Fukkurinko is a rice variety developed in Southern part of Hokkaido island, which is characterized by its sweet, savory taste, soft texture, appetizing shine and good stickiness. This delicious rice with a lower amylose content (stickier) is ideal for sushi, onigiri, fish dishes. To guarantee its taste and quality, its production areas are limited to part of Sorachi and southern Hokkaido, regions best suited to growing this cultivar. Cultivated in rice paddies, it benefits from sustainable agriculture. The use of nitrogen fertilizers is reduced, thus lowering the protein content of the rice and making it even more tender and flavourful.
